Our nursery and pre school is situated in the village of Wath Upon Dearne, close to Dearne Valley College and Call Centres, and borders the towns of Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley. It is set in spacious grounds and surrounded by open fields and countryside, our nursery gardens are often referred to as “a stimulating outdoor classroom”
The nursery is purpose built and opened in 1999, we can accommodate 120 children across 6 age and stage appropriate base rooms.
Our staff pride themselves on their excellent relationships with children, parents and carers. We are constantly updating our qualifications and skills to keep abreast of the changing legislation. To view our latest 2014 Ofsted Inspection Report in which we achieved 'Good' please click here. We are also proud to announce we have been awarded the National standards Quality Mark, the inspector commented on: “the ethos of setting centres around providing high quality practice, provision and environments for the children.” Click here to view the quality mark award
We have 2 baby rooms catering for mobile and non-mobile children, 2 toddler rooms catering for our 2 years olds and 2 preschool rooms for our older children. All our rooms have an individual secure garden for children to access, as well as toilets and nappy changing areas. We follow the national Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and all children are supported to achieve their full potential.
We have a daily routine which provides time for free play, including free-flow as well as a range of stimulating and exciting activities catered to the individual child’s interests and next steps.
Each base room includes defined areas for messy play, such as sand, water, workshops and mark making activities, we also have space for quiet times, rest and sleep. Children can become involved in role play activities in our Home Corners and enjoy investigating real fruit and vegetables, for the budding builders we have large construction areas which allow their imaginations to run free! We offer small world resources which centre around their interests and allow children to act out and relive experiences.
Moving with the times each room has their own tablet, (with parental
controls) which allows the children to investigate their interests whilst gaining the imperative skills for today’s technological world. The children also enjoy getting creative and messy in our very own mud kitchen! The children are free to make mud pies, and generally get very dirty! Nurseries most popular resident is Thumper the rabbit! Thumper loves cuddles and the children are very good at caring for her, learning about her needs such as fresh water, clean bedding and a varied diet of fresh vegetables.
Meals are freshly cooked each day on the nursery premises and we offer breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and tea. Meals are well balanced and nutritious; any special diets can be catered for. Ingredients used are fresh and sourced locally from local suppliers.
We receive nursery education vouchers for 2, 3 and 4 year olds for a maximum of 15 hours per week for 38 weeks per year. We also accept work related childcare vouchers from all organisations. Nursery opens Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6pm (excluding Bank Holidays), we offer a variety of rates to accommodate your needs.
We welcome visitors and are looking forward to your visit so that we can share our wonderful nursery with you.
