All staff are highly qualified and experienced, with the Nursery Manager holding the Montessori Teaching Certificate in Early Years. There are also several members of staff who hold a level 3 Forest School Leader Qualification which allows us to run regular onsite Forest School sessions in a newly developed forest school site. All staff hold both Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Certificates.
We have two baby rooms and a separate sleep room for naps. Our baby rooms are warm cosy spaces where babies can explore a range of heuristic and sensory materials. Babies have access to a shaded garden area in which they can crawl and explore the world around them. Our older toddlers are provided with a wide range of resources and activities to keep them active. There are excellent procedures in place to aid speaking skills. We work hard to develop strong parent partnerships which allows us to provide and support individual children's home routines. Babies' senses are heightened through regular opportunities in our sensory room, where patterns in light and sound can be explored.
We have 4 bright and modern rooms for children from 2-5 years old which include pre-school rooms.
A carefully prepared environment allows children to choose and explore a huge range of activities rich in exciting learing opportunities both indoor and out. We place a strong emphasis on chldren's personal development, welfare and behaviour. Children are encouraged to be caring, kind and considerate. Children are encouraged to risk assess for themselves which provides a great sense of empowerment over the activities they choose to do. Our pre-school rooms encourage children to be independant learners, as they take part in both adult led and chlld initiated activities.
There are times for phonics and math work and the environment is rich in print and number to support children's literacy and math skills ready for school.
Alongside the National Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, the nursery offers both Montessori education and onsite Forest School lessions. Montessori excercises allow children to develop in a natural way by using all five senses, resulting in confident independent children with a thirst to want to learn for themselves.
Our forest school lessons have an emphasis on outdoor learning in a natural woodland environment. Research shows that children who attend forest school develop strong social and communication skills, develop high self-esteem and confidence in their own abilities and also attain the ability to work effectively within groups.
In the past 9 years, we have been recognised as both Good and Outstanding by OFSTED.
